Clyst Vale Community College's servers were coming to the end of their warranty period, and with 15 servers racked up in a tiny space andno room for expansion; air conditioning was proving increasingly difficult and expensive to run. Demand on the servers, and no budget for a dedicated test platform, meant that we had no opportunity to test new solutions without affecting the existing users. With the desire to accommodate Virtual Learning Environments (VLE’s), therequirement for 24 hour access was stretching their capabilities to their limit.
Graeme first heard about Apex and VMware when he attended an IT course and met Damion Norcombe, from Axminster Tools, an existing client of Apex. Damien evangelised about his experience and successes with Apex. “We talked about new technologies and I had just snubbed virtualisation. Damien got me thinking about it again, and we agreed on a site visit. Damien was blown away by the virtualisation technologies and the work Apex had done.”
